GILBERT AND GEORGE
Gilbert and George where 2 artists who worked together on large scale images ! the two artist where best known and famous for the highly controversial images called " the dirty word pictures" these images where made up of photographs the artists took of each other and their depiction of the east London streets during the 70s with graffiti used often to represent their thoughts ?
In the image 2cunt scum" note that the 2 artists Gilbert and George look like they are hanging there heads in shame of the above.
I think although the images can seem rude and uncalled for i believe they represent how they felt about the streets of east London clearly and honestly.
Cunt Scum consists of sixteen panels arranged in rows of four. The crudely written words ‘cunt’ and ‘scum’ appear at the top and bottom of the work respectively. The individual letters of ‘cunt’ each occupy one panel across the top of the work. ‘Scum’ occupies two panels, two letters on each. It is centrally placed in the bottom row of panels, framed by photographs of the artists’ head and shoulders, seen from the side looking downwards. The central rows of panels depict street scenes viewed from varying distances. Busy streets full of indistinct figures contrast with a view of an empty road, a multitude of faces in a crowd, down and outs sitting on the pavement holding mugs of tea or soup, a policeman seen in profile, a close-up of a black man whose face disappears into black shadow behind him and a view of skyscrapers in the City of London. The work is signed on the bottom right panel.

We started with having a group talk to see what ideas we could come up with and maybe some kind of theme ?
After a long discussion we decided to use several of our own images print them off and set in frames of size 6x4
We had to use 9 of our own images that give us a total of 65 images to complete the picture we the changed the colour of 30 images
We did
8 in red
11 in blue
11 in yellow
And the rest in black and white
We then glued all the frames together while placing the ones in colour in a way to create the word "FUN" also all 65 images was taken with the word fun in mind.
