USING A 5 IN1

A 5 in 1 reflector is used to add or or defuse the natural light!

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A 5 IN 1

This image was done with no reflector as the sun was behined the clouds

The white reflector was used just below to the models right hand side to bounce a little bit of light from the sun behined the subject.

The defuser was used to block out the sun coming from the models right hand side.

The model was positioned on an angle to create a hard light coming from the sun on her right hand side.

The black side of the reflector was used here to create a nice shadow effect on the models left cheek

This image the model was placed in the shade this softens the skin tone

In this image the silver reflector bounced a small amount of light to light up her face a little bit more then the natural shaded one.

On this image we asked the model to stand on the edge of a shadow so we could allow a little bit more light to bounce of the reflector and onto the subject

The gold reflector was used on this image from a far distance which created a soft warm glow to the skin

In this final image the gold reflector was used very close up to bounce the natural light back on the subect!
as you can see this made the models skin seem far to orange and didn't give the result we would want.

TASK 3

For task 3 i had to produce a series of 4 images that related to a certain theme! I had to choose between a place,lost,found,insecurity,love,escape and time!

I decided to use time as my theme as it would give me more options to use for ideas? I wanted the shoot to be in both low key and high key to get the best from my ideas and help me communicate my intentions better.

For my first image i had an idea regarding evolution as the was significance to time! The only problem i had was what to use?

after bouncing a few ideas i used some wooden statue men that i could put into position like this.

For my second image i decided to use cameras from the past to the present!

i used for both these images low key

For this image i decided to use a very old clock thats been in my family for years!
i used the product scoop to take the image and i did it in hi key

here are my setting i used;

For my 4th image i used a diary to represent time! As it was a modern diary i decided to use photoshop to create a vintage feel this was to contrast with a modern book in a older looking picture 

The diary was to show how time can be in days months and years also.

 

The image was shot in high key on the same settings as the clock but on photoshop i lowered the hue and saturation then created a second layer and then an overlay,I then used the rubber tool to delete round the edges to give it a fade look.

 for the low key images i used a black sheet on top of the product scoop.

task 2

Task 2

For task 2 i had to take 2 pictures of products that relate to me as a individual the images also had to reflect either a particular personal interest or a particular aspect of my own persona.

I decided to use hi key images for both my shots !

Items

For my first item i used a everton scarf this is because i think it reflects who i am because everton has been is my family since before my dad was born and my whole family has supported everton! its not just a particular interest but part of me as a person.

For my second image i needed a little help with so i decided to ask for some inspiration from my friends on? 

after some offensive and funny comments back i had a few people say baileys!!! Although i knew this was because my mates think i am camp and get a funny tipsy side to me when i have had some it is the first thing people tend to think of when they think of me .

Studio Photography Production

In this project i had to produce a series of images that full utilise my ability to produce studio photography' this had ti be done showing my planned intentions and my creative intent.

I was told i had to do this project in a series of tasks!!!!

TASK 1

I had to produce a series of head shots of one person' These had to be done in high key/mid key/and low key within these keys i had to the individuals character that best suited the lighting

Here are my 3 images and how i did them.

High Key

This high key image above shows the subject laughing! The lighting in this image gives the impression of a very happy and bright mood and even more exaggerates the subjects laugh,

Here is the studio set up i used to create this image.

I put 2x soft boxes with flash ready behined the subject to help create whiteout on the white paper backdrop, i then put another flash infront and to the right of the subject to get a nice bright light on the her face

The settings i used on my camera was

F 5.6

ISO 100

1/60 of a second

LOW KEY

The low key image above suggests a somber attitude on the subject! To match the character and help also create a even more somber atmosphere around her i created a very strong and tense shaddow wich i then casted over one side of the subjects face.

Here is the studio set up i used to create this image

I set up only one light with a snoot attached to it and directed a beam of light directly onto my subjects face,I then used a dark piece of card to create a very strong shadow on the left side of her face

My settings on my camera was 

F-8

ISO 100

1/125 of a second

MID KEY

In the mid key image below the subjects expressions suggest a less somber and almost positive attitude this was very easy to determine what type of lighting i needed to use!

i did a mid light and just and added just a little bit of shadow 

Here is the studio set up i used to create this image

Again i set up only one light with a small soft box attached to it i then used a black card but held it more away from the subject this helped me create a more even tone.

The settings i used on my camera was

STROBE PHOTOGRAPHY

The ability of strobe lights to "freeze" the motion of rapidly moving objects by making them visible for only a fraction of a second makes them very useful in photography and in measuring vibration and other types of high-speed motion. here are some examples of strobe photography done by other artists.

Harold E. "Doc" Edgerton, who created some of the most memorable photographs of all time,

Edgerton began working with the stroboscope. As many people are aware, a stroboscope generates brief, repeating bursts of light, which allow an observer to view quickly moving objects in a series of static, as-if frozen images, rather than a single continuous blur.

here is one of Harold Edgerton famous images of a water drop.
